This n8n workflow automates the full content creation and publishing cycle for WordPress, using Airtable as the control center and OpenAI to generate SEO-optimized content.
✅ What does this workflow do?
1) Reads pending items from Airtable
The workflow looks for records in Airtable with status “Todo” and treats them as pending posts to be published.
2) Updates the status to “In progress”
Before generating content, the record status is updated to “In progress”, preventing duplicates and ensuring full traceability.
3) Generates the post using AI (title + HTML + excerpt + meta description)
Using an LLM Chain with OpenAI, the workflow generates a complete WordPress content package:
- Post title
- HTML content
- Excerpt
- SEO meta description
All content is generated in the configured language.
4) Creates or updates the WordPress post
The workflow checks whether the record already contains a Post ID:
- If no Post ID exists, a new post is created and published.
- If a Post ID already exists, the existing post is updated.
This allows content iteration without losing control.
5) Saves results back to Airtable and marks the item as “Done”
Finally, the workflow stores all key information in Airtable (using upsert logic):
- Post ID
- Post URL
- Post status
- Publish and update dates
- Generated title and content
The record status is then set to “Done”.
